Alteo’s real estate cluster: roots deep in the east

Published on the

Deeply rooted in eastern Mauritius, where it owns 15,000 hectares of land, Alteo has always sought to diversify, while maintaining its strong positioning in the sugar industry. Its ambitions for this region is ever-evolving, thanks to its three clusters of activity: sugar, energy and real estate.

As a major stakeholder in the east of Mauritius, Alteo aims at providing the region with sustainable structures that, while respecting its specific characteristics, will encourage development.

For instance, the construction of the M4 freeway between Forbach and Bel Air seems to be essential to the large-scale development plan of the region. The main objective of Alteo’s real estate cluster: offering more services to the inhabitants in the vicinity, without altering the unique identity of this part of the island, where sugar cane, mountains, greenery and the turquoise lagoon are omnipresent.

A real estate cluster in constant growth

For over 10 years now, Alteo’s real estate division has been focusing on the prestigious project of Anahita, along with a few other developments such as Mont Piton and Balnea. These projects–to which both foreigners and Mauritians were mesmerised–, made it possible for the group to showcase and position its expertise on a competitive market.

Today, the real estate cluster of Alteo is displaying a broader ambition through its master plan… Along with its three pillars, "Greenest, Healthiest, Smartest", which are the basis for its future developments and its desire to expand its place in this community.

The east, a strong sense of identity!

"We are entering an active phase of this development," underlines David Martial, Commercial & Development Director. The desire to set up the group’s offices in the region reflects the need of Alteo to further anchor its identity in this region, where various other real estate projects will soon be taking shape.

To ensure cohesion between these two identities, Alteo will soon unveil the new name of its real estate division. "It’s a logical continuation of our projects. We want our real estate cluster to have the East in its veins," continues our interviewee.

Alteo’s roots in this region remain omnipresent in both the real estate and sugar sectors. The strategy is to pursue its sugar activities by investing in the mechanisation of fields and planning the production of greater volumes of special sugars. The group also wants to move towards a 100% green energy production through a new 100% biomass power plant at Union Flacq and the photovoltaic farm Hélios Beau Champ, as well as other projects to come...

To live, work and enjoy life in the east… With all its attributes and characteristics… This is what Alteo yearns for the inhabitants of this beautiful part of the island.
