Tourism: Mauritius attracting more and more Kuwaiti tourists

Published on the

Mauritius is turning into a popular destination for Kuwaiti tourists. During the first 4 months, the number of tourist arrivals from Kuwait has risen by 63% compared to the same period in 2013. Aiming at consolidating the Kuwaiti market, the Minister of Tourism, Michael Sik Yuen, together with 12 private tour-operators, visited 6 major Middle-East cities (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh,Doha, Kuwait City and Jeddah) to meet some tour-operators during a promotional tour.

As a result, 12 Kuwaiti tour-operators recently visited Mauritius. The island positions itself as a high-class touristic destination mingling luxury, intimacy and hospitality: exactly what Kuwaiti tourists are looking for. It is important to note that the number of Kuwaiti tourist arrivals rose from around 300 in 2005 to 12 000 in 2013 and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority expects this figure to double to 24 000 in 2014.
